DELAYED STARTS
1. Set out below are guidelines as to what
should happen if the start of the game is delayed by reason
of ground and/or weather conditions and should be read in
conjunction with paragraph 5 of Appendix A.
2. The table set out on page x of the printed version of the
Directory should be ignored, as this has been printed in error.
3. If the start is delayed by one hour or less then a full
game should be played.
4. If the start is delayed by more than one hour the overall
length of the game (i.e. the maximum number of overs) shall
be reduced and similarly the maximum number of overs for which
the side batting first can bat will also be reduced in proportion.
5. In order to make the calculations as simple as possible
the total maximum length of the game shall be reduced by 3
overs for each complete 10 minutes lost (e.g. 9 minutes lost
- no reduction; 10 minutes lost - 3 overs; 10-19 minutes 3
overs; 20 minutes 6 overs.)
6. The maximum length of the first innings shall be 50/93
of the total maximum of the number of overs in the match,
any fraction being rounded up. These are shown in the table
below.

LIMITED
OVERS GAME (Appendix A, paragraph 5.5)
|
NOTES:
1. Start time should be brought forward half an hour in the
last two weeks in August and one hour in September.
2. The figures for the maximum number of overs for the side
batting second are based on the side batting first batting
for its full quota of overs; if they do not then the "unused"
overs of the side batting first should be added.
INTERRUPTION/S
DUE TO WEATHER
1.
If such interruption/s are an hour or less then the time lost
shall be added on to provide a 93 over game with the side
batting first having a maximum of 50 overs.
2. If the interruption/s total more than an hour then the
maximum number of overs shall be reduced from 93 at the rate
of 3 overs for each complete 10 minutes lost in excess of
1 hour (e.g. time lost 1 hour 9 minutes - 0 overs lost; time
lost 1 hour 10 minutes - 3 overs lost.)
3. As stated in the second sentence of paragraph 5.4.2 of
Appendix A, there shall be no reduction in the maximum number
of overs the side batting first can receive. This means that
the first sentence should be deleted as the two sentences
are totally contradictory.
4. If there is an interruption/s in a match where the start
has been delayed the time lost at the beginning of the game
must be taken into account (e.g. if the game starts at 2.30
p.m. instead of 2 p.m. then the time available to be added
on for interruption/s is ½ hour and not 1 hour.)
5. Everyone should be aware of the difference in the regulations
relating to delayed starts on the one hand and interruption/s
due to weather on the other.
